Vote different
[edit]This was a 2012 Internet ad based on the "1984" Super Bowl ad for Apple where a Big Brother-like figure preaching about the glories of conformity appears to be a parody of Bill Gates, and his megascreen image is destroyed by a hammer throwing rebel and the caption was "Think Different".
In the 2012 parody, the image was Hillary Clinton and the caption was "Vote Different". This obviously was in support of the candidacy of Barack Obama, but was not an official part of his campaign, but was so effective I would suggest it should perhaps be included here. Parody led to Netscape shutting down redirects to personal home pages
[edit]The Netscape employee Robert Waugh made a parody showing famous mass murderers (e.g. John Wayne Gacy) in the same style with the slogan “Think Different” on his home page, which was back then displayed under the URL about:rmw in then then dominant Netscape Navigator. This led to an uproar which eventually led to Netscape shutting down the forwarding of all of their employees’ personal homepages: https://www.jwz.org/gruntle/blowme.html@ – 31.16.118.116 (talk) 08:15, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
